Technological Breakthrough | Major breakthrough achieved in hybrid-specific driven disc technology, with high-temperature resistance improved by 50%

China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI) announced today that it has jointly developed a new-generation clutch driven disc dedicated to hybrid electric vehicles together with leading domestic auto parts enterprises. Core performance indicators have achieved leapfrog improvement, marking that China has broken overseas technological monopoly in the core components of hybrid transmission field.

Core performance indicators have achieved leapfrog improvement, marking that China has broken overseas technological monopoly in the core components of hybrid transmission field.
 
Specially designed to adapt to the ultra-high speed of 15,000 revolutions per minute and frequent start-stop working conditions of hybrid models, the driven disc adopts carbon fiber composite friction material combined with ceramic matrix reinforced structure. It raises the temperature resistance of friction linings from the traditional 180℃ to 280℃, with thermal stability over 30% better than the industry standard. Under continuous high-temperature operating conditions, it maintains a friction coefficient of more than 98%, effectively eliminating slipping and torque loss.
 
Test data shows that the service life of the product is extended by 58%, and the single replacement cycle is prolonged from 6 months to more than 9.5 months. Within three years, each vehicle can save approximately 18,000 yuan in parts replacement costs in total.
 
At present, the technology has passed stringent bench and road tests by vehicle manufacturers. Mass production is expected to be realized in Q4 2026, with the first batch supporting mainstream domestic PHEV and HEV models.
